Care Ring was in the local news recently for our efforts to intentionally improve the diversity of our Board of Directors. In a second story, our Executive Director penned an op-ed for QC Metro entitled "A seat at the table," where she highlighted the national problem of lack of diversity in both Boards and nonprofit leadership, noting that 80% of nonprofit Boards are non-Latinx white, and only 10% of nonprofit leaders are people of color. After sharing how Care Ring shifted the minority representation of our Board from 12% to 50%, she wrote: "I urge other nonprofits to consider whether the communities they serve can see a reflection of themselves in organizational leadership. We deeply appreciate WSOC-TV and QC Metro for giving us these opportunities to highlight our diversity and inclusion efforts for our leadership. For questions about these stories or our Board of Directors, contact our Director of Communications, Jennifer Peele: [email protected]
