Mayor Foxx Talks with Care Ring About Organization’s Goals, Local Health Issues


In a recent interview on “The Point,” Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx spoke with Care Ring Executive Director Don Jonas about Care Ring’s mission of providing health care to families and individuals with limited resources. Foxx and Jonas also discussed critical health issues facing Charlotte, including obesity and access to nutritious food, along with the importance of using preventive health services to address them.

Established in 1955 and formerly known as Community Health Services, Care Ring is a nonprofit organization that annually serves more than 7,000 people in Mecklenburg County. Care Ring’s three primary programs include a low-cost clinic in Center City Charlotte, its Nurse-Family Partnership for first-time mothers, and its Physicians Reach Out network of 1,600 volunteer physicians, dentists, and allied health professionals.
