Our A Guided Journey maternal and child health program recently celebrated its first graduation for the families in the program, with a cute jungle theme. There were 36 families who completed the program and 10 families and their guests who joined us for the celebration. Thank you to Healthy Blue NC for providing families with health plan info, as well as Mecklenburg County Public Health's Kim Scott, Keila Marlin and Kimberly Sullivan for attending to cheer on our graduates; and thanks for our team of dedicated Community Health Workers who planned and executed this great party.

We conclude our celebration of Black Philanthropy Month with a highlight of Care Ring Board member Jewel Greywoode, MD. Dr. Greywoode is an otolaryngologist who specializes in cosmetic and functional facial plastic surgery. He practices with Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates, P.A. (@ceenta1923) and is part of Care Ring's Physicians Reach Out network of volunteer providers who donate free care to our patients. Dr. Greywoode also volunteers internationally with Samaritan's Purse, and shared this with us:

"Since 2018, I have been a part of a medical mission trip with Samaritan's Purse to Liberia to repair cleft lip and cleft palates. The patients are so grateful and the work is very rewarding. One of the highlights of this past year has been the opportunity for me to work alongside Liberian doctors improving the lives of their fellow countrymen. Building capacity and training the surgeons there to do the work has been so rewarding. This group of surgeons have dedicated their lives to work in the ELWA mission hospital providing care for those who need it. It has been an honor to be a part of of the story of those providing healing and hope."
